c) Authorize the Chairman to sign the contract after completion of negotiations.
This is for a qualified firm to provide Engineering and Permitting services for the creation of a new Parallel Boat Lock located next to the existing South Gulf Cove Lock, Myakka River/Charlotte Harbor, Florida.

|6||BACKGROUND ( Why is this Action Necessary, and What Action will be accomplished )|
|This is for a firm to provide Engineering and Permitting services for the creation of a new Parallel Boat Lock located next to the existing South Gulf Cove Lock, Charlotte Harbor, Florida. The design shall be completed within 180 calendar days from the date of the issuance of the contract. This project will consist of, but not be limited to, surveys, stakeholder meetings, estimates, review all existing permits, preparation and acquisition of all applicable permits, with an option to provide construction management as specified.
Professional Services Committee members consisting of Matthew Logan, Project Manager, Public Works Engineering; Jamie Scudera, Projects Manager, Natural Resources; and Ruta Vardys, Engineer III, Utilities evaluated the two proposals submitted and had discussions with those firms. A breakdown of the ranking is attached, along with a copy of the proposals submitted by the top two firms.
